The plot

Aida is not only a monumental opera set in an idealized Egypt, but a universal story that speaks of deep human emotions. The protagonists—Aida, Radamès, and Amneris—are young people overwhelmed by passions and ambitions greater than themselves, victims of an inexorable fate and a cruel and useless war. The opera thus becomes a reflection on love as the only way to give meaning to life.

Spoken parts of the performance are in Italian; a basic understanding of the language is adviced.

This is an event for school groups. In case seats are available to the general audience, they will be on sale on the same day of performance at the box-office.

Programme

The plot

Each of us encounters difficulties in daily life. Finding a solution requires a will to take action and move forward, because immobility is never the way out. In this show, Dante’s journey in the Divine Comedy represents the stages of life from adolescence to adulthood. We will thus have the Dark Forest, i.e., the approach to adolescence, Hell, i.e., the period of total rebellion and confusion, we will pass through the arduous Purgatory, i.e., the phase of challenge, learning, and growth, to end up in Paradise, a place of serenity given by awareness.
The participants, in the role of the Supreme Poet, will have the opportunity to embark on both a physical and emotional journey through the halls of the theater, exploring the theatre, the people it contains and themselves at the same time.

Spoken parts of the performance are in Italian; a basic understanding of the language is adviced.

Programme

The plot

The show is inspired by Suzy Lee’s book “The Wave” and tells a story that is both simple and complex: that of a little girl and her encounter with the sea, which leads her to cross a boundary, to experience, to learn. The sea is the natural element that contains and awakens a series of emotions and moods: curiosity, fascination, the desire to play, but also the unknown, fear, and the need to escape. The sea also marks the boundary between the real and the imaginary. The limit, therefore, that becomes a necessary step towards transformation and always leaves behind a treasure to be cherished.

This is an event for school groups. In case seats are available to the general audience, they will be on sale on the same day of performance at the box-office.

Workshop practical info

The workshop is recommended from the fifth to the eighth month of pregnancy, when it has been scientifically proven that the fetus begins to perceive and react to sounds coming from outside. Reproducing the sounds perceived during gestation, especially the voices of the parents, after birth, produces relaxing effects, intensifies the sound bond with the baby, and promotes vocal identification.

The plot

Frantz and Grittly are two young street artists from Tyrol on the route to Strasbourg. Why are they traveling? To visit and help Charlotte, Grittly’s sister, who has recently become a widower, after the alleged passing of her husband Bertoldo. Their encounter with a merchant called ‘U Venditor sweeps them up in a whirlwind of misunderstandings, promises, and lies: everything revolves around a lottery ticket, a symbol of easy (and deceptive) fortune. Amid laughter and twists and turns, the show invites us to reflect on how fragile dreams of wealth are and how solid human bonds and the truth of feelings are.

Spoken and sung parts of the performance are in Italian; a basic understanding of the language is adviced.

The plot

Let your clouds take flight! Here we are again with the second fantastic adventure of the Compagnia de’ Pazzarielli!
On stage you will find Arturo, leader of a band of die-hard visionaries, Adelina, his faithful artistic companion, the young Gualpierina, an acrobat and jack-of-all-trades, singers Ariè, Cabaletta and Bis and, of course, our amazing orchestra.
We will sail through the waves of an unpredictable sea, where the waves of music grow dizzyingly, one on top of the other, to land in some of the many Gioachino Rossini’s fairy tales: in Algiers, recalling the love affairs of a beautiful Italian woman kidnapped by pirates, and in Seville, to discover the intrigues of a famous barber. Finally, the company will arrive in a mysterious country, where everyone can improvise their own story and weave the fabric of their fantasies.

Talking about Opera – Aleko / Pagliacci

This event is in Italian.

The art of storytelling is made up of intertwined threads that open up the enchantment of listening.

Beatrice Monroy tell us the story of the operas Aleko and Pagliacci with Giuseppe Cutino and Stefania Blandeburgo.

Tickets (3 euros) are available at the box-office and online.

You can access the Sala Onu through the stairs located in the stage door area (on the right side of the main entrance, close to Via Pignatelli Aragona). An accessible pathway, with no steps and the elevator, is also available (ask the staff for guidance).

About

The project

Beatrice Monroy – with readings by Stefania Blandeburgo, Gigi Borruso, Rinaldo Clementi, Giuseppe Cutino, Consuelo Lupo, and Sabrina Petyx – recounts the plots of the Operas staged at the Teatro Massimo to the audience, as well as the historical and cultural references on which the librettists based their work.

Our aim is to bring to the audience the extraordinary stories that inspired the Masters to compose their masterpieces.
