“Il Massimo per la Città”, la campagna di concerti diffusi ideata dalla Fondazione Teatro Massimo, torna con un nuovo appuntamento domenica 26 ottobre 2025 alleore 19:30 presso la Chiesa Nostra Signora delle Nazioni in S. Eugenio Papa (Piazza Europa, 40). L’iniziativa mira a portare la musica fuori dai confini fisici del Teatro, raggiungendo i 25 quartieri cittadini.
‘Il Massimo per la Città’ (The Massimo for the City of Palermo) is a series of events created by the Fondazione Teatro Massimo to involve the whole city of Palermo in music.
The initiative aims to bring music beyond the physical confines of the theatre, reaching 25 city neighbourhoods.
On Sunday, 26 October 2025, at 7:30 p.m. the String Ensemble of the operahouse orchestra will perform in the Church Nostra Signora delle Nazioni in S. Eugenio Papa (Piazza Europa, 40).
‘Il Massimo per la Città is not just a programme of events, it is a concerted effort that sees the theatre stepping outside its walls to meet the public in many different places: from historical monuments to suburbs, passing through hospitals, schools, churches and squares,’ points out General Manager Marco Betta. ‘We want to bring quality music to areas often excluded from cultural circuits, demonstrating how art can be a powerful vehicle for inclusion and participation, reaching new audiences beyond our physical boundaries.’
The concert will feature the String Ensemble of the Teatro Massimo Orchestra, composed of violins, violas, cellos and double basses, and led by concertmaster Silviu Dima. The programme focuses on the string repertoire and includes the performance of three famous compositions by Mozart in the serenade genre: the Divertimenti in D major K. 136 and in F major K. 138, and the famous Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music). This is followed by Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony, Op. 4, composed in 1934 and based on early themes by the composer, who is often compared to Mozart for his precocious talent. Admission is free until all available seats are taken.
The campaign ‘Il Massimo per la città’ was successfully launched last July with a concert featuring the Massimo Kids Orchestra, the orchestra of young musicians of the Teatro Massimo conducted by Maestro Michele De Luca. It will continue over the coming months with a programme of more than 60 concerts.
