Palermo, October 12 2025. The Director of the Teatro Biondo, Valerio Santoro, and the General Manager of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Marco Betta, in agreement with Roberto Lagalla, Mayor of Palermo as well as President of the Teatro Massimo Foundation, have decided to suspend the initiatives planned in the Teatro Massimo’s Foyer for the inauguration of the three-year collaboration between the two institutions, which today included a performance by the Compagnia Nazionale di Danza Storica.
The cancelation has been decided as a sign of mourning and deep condolences for the tragic and cowardly killing of Paolo Taormina, which took place in Palermo this morning. The two theatres and the dance company are close to the heartbreaking pain of the young man’s family and of the entire city community hit by this dramatic event.
The Teatro Biondo and the Teatro Massimo, together with the Mayor of Palermo, renew their commitment to promoting, through culture and art, the fundamental values of respect, civil coexistence and non-violence.
