Director Cecilia Ligorio receives the prestigious ‘Premio Abbiati’ award from Italian music critics for Alessandro Scarlatti’s opera Mitridate Eupatore, produced by the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.

The Fondazione Teatro Massimo di Palermo warmly welcomes the news that Cecilia Ligorio has been awarded the Franco Abbiati Music Critics’ Prize for Best Director for the past artistic season. The award, now in its 45th edition and named this year in memory of music critic Angelo Foletto, honoured Ligorio for her staging of Alessandro Scarlatti’s Mitridate Eupatore, a production by the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, created for the celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of Alessandro Scarlatti’s death, and for Il re pastore at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome.
