Highlights include a tribute to Ennio Morricone and Eliodoro Sollima, international dance, performances by talented youth groups, the world premiere of a composition by Maria Chiara Casà, a rare performance of Massenet’s “La Navarraise”, and events in Danisinni, Brancaccio and Zen neighbourhoods.


A month-long programme, running from 28 June to 26 July, taking place on the Theatre’s Main Stage, on the Monumental Steps and in the city’s neighbourhoods. 
The 2026 summer season at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo brings forward several themes and ideas, such as intercultural dialogue with Vietnam, a tribute to the Italian composers Ennio Morricone and Eliodoro Sollima, the central role of the ballet company, a rare opera in concert form, La Navarraise, the world premiere of a new opera by composer Maria Chiara Casà. The Youth Ensembles will also be involved in symphonic, choral and chamber music concerts that will outreach to the local community, through the ‘Il Massimo per la città’ programme (The Massimo for the City of Palermo), which continues into the summer with a programme of performances in the neighbourhoods of Danisinni, Brancaccio (Centro Padre Nostro) and Zen (Amphitheatre and Church of San Filippo Neri), as well as including performances in the Botanical Garden and the Società Siciliana per la Storia Patria.
