(*) Teatro Massimo's Board of Directors, due to the recent public funding cut, has been taken to a grievous choice: substituting the original conductor, staging and ballet for "Don Quichotte" with the production of the Kiev Opera Ballet, world-renowned for its classical ballet repertoire. This step was necessary to grant the public a chance to attend the performance - with the previous arrangement, the Theatre would have been forced to cancel all dates.

About the ballet
Ludwig Minkus’ Don Quichotte is a ballet inspired by the novel of Miguel Cervantes.
It originally became famous in Petipa's staging performed in 1869. The protagonist of the novel is the hero of lost battles, the dreamer who believes he can make the spirit of Spanish cavalry relive. Yet in this ballet the real main characters are Kitri and Basilio, two young people in love with each other who will take the audience with them in a joyous and unforgettable world. |
