About the opera
Verdi’s Traviata brings to the stage a stunningly intense psychological portrayal of a woman and her choices. Based on "The Lady of the Camellias" by Alexandre Dumas fils, the opera contains some of the most well-known Verdi's melodies.
This staging, originally made for the Sferisterio in Macerata (1992), by scenes designer Josef Svoboda is famous as the "Mirrors Traviata" thanks to a huge bent mirror that while reflecting everything that goes on on stage also gives new unexpected perspectives to the audience.
